These terms cover your use of Synapse — the account, the data you store, and the API. They form an agreement between you and WENJUN ZHU, an individual sole trader based in the People's Republic of China ("we", "us"), reachable at customer@getsynapse.link.
Purchases are a separate agreement with Paddle. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for Synapse: you buy the subscription from Paddle, and Paddle's Buyer Terms and Conditions govern payment, invoicing, sales tax, and your statutory withdrawal rights. These terms govern the service itself. Where the two documents overlap on a payment question, Paddle's terms prevail.
Synapse stores conversation history from AI tools and serves it back to other AI tools over the Model Context Protocol (MCP). An agent you have authorised writes turns to a topic; another agent, in a different tool or on a different machine, reads that topic back.
Two things follow from how this works, and you should understand both before relying on it:
You need a valid email address and you are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your access tokens private — anything holding a valid token can read and write your topics. Tell us promptly at customer@getsynapse.link if you believe a token has been exposed, and revoke it.
One account is for one person or one organisation. Do not resell access or share credentials with people who should not see your stored conversations.
You retain all rights to the content you store. We claim no ownership over it and no licence to use it beyond what is technically necessary to operate the service for you — storing it, serving it back, and backing it up.
We do not use your conversations to train models, ours or anyone else's, and we do not sell or share them. See the Privacy Policy, including its explanation of why the service is not end-to-end encrypted and what that means for you.
Your history is exportable at any time: topics_get_with_turns returns a topic as a plain markdown transcript. There is no lock-in and you do not need our permission to leave.
Plans differ in how many turns an account can hold. A turn is one exchange — a user message plus the assistant's reply. Current tiers are on the pricing page.
Capacity is storage, not a monthly quota. It does not reset at the start of a billing period, because what you are paying for is how much history the account can hold, not how many requests you make.
When an account is full, new writes are rejected until you delete a topic or move to a larger plan. Reads keep working when full. We do not delete stored turns to make room, and we do not delete them when you downgrade or cancel — if your history exceeds the smaller plan's capacity, the account simply stops accepting new writes while everything already stored stays readable.
Individual write requests are capped at 2 MB. That limit applies on every tier, exists to keep single requests within serverless bounds, and is not something a paid plan removes.
We may introduce a retention limit for cancelled accounts in future — for example, deleting turns above the free capacity some months after cancellation. We will not apply any such limit to an existing account without at least 90 days' notice by email and an export window before it takes effect, and we will never apply it retroactively to data you have already been told would be kept.
Subscriptions are monthly and renew automatically until cancelled. Paddle charges you, issues the invoice, and handles applicable tax. Cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. See the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
If a price changes, existing subscribers are told by email before it applies to them, and you can cancel before the new price takes effect.
Do not use Synapse to store or transmit content that is unlawful, that infringes someone else's rights, or that you have no right to store. Do not attempt to reach another account's data, probe or overload the infrastructure, or use the API in a way designed to circumvent plan capacity.
Do not store credentials. Redact API keys, tokens, passwords, and private keys before they are written. This is a use requirement, not just advice — see section 3 of the Privacy Policy for why.
If we have to suspend an account for a breach of this section, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix it, unless the breach is causing active harm. Suspension does not delete your data, and you can export it.
Synapse is run by one person. There is no contractual uptime guarantee, and maintenance or a failure at a provider can interrupt the service. We will restore it as quickly as we can.
We keep backups, but you should not treat Synapse as the only copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. Section 3's export exists so that keeping your own copy is straightforward, and we would rather say this plainly than imply a durability guarantee a sole trader cannot honour.
If a fault on our side makes the service materially unusable for part of a billing period, the refund policy covers it.
Features will change. We will not remove a capability you are relying on without notice by email, and we will not reduce the capacity of a plan you are already paying for during a period you have paid for.
You can stop using Synapse at any time; cancel the subscription and, if you want, ask us to delete the account. We may terminate an account for a serious or repeated breach of section 6, with notice and a reasonable opportunity to export your data first.
Synapse is provided as-is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that an AI tool you connect will write your conversations reliably — section 1 explains why that last point is outside our control.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or the value of data you did not export.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud, or your statutory consumer rights — which, for the purchase itself, sit with Paddle under its Buyer Terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, and disputes about them go to the competent courts there. This clause concerns the service agreement between you and us; disputes about a payment are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms and the law they specify.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
Material changes will be sent by email to account holders before taking effect. Continuing to use Synapse after that means you accept the revised terms. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
